Asking them to write leave requests on paper (just as they used to do in schools) or sending formal email requests is now a thing of the past. It's high time such outdated practices are phased out, as leave management systems are the way forward.
However, when switching to a new system, don't assume it will be a smooth ride for your employees, even if you hope it will be. Some staff members will quickly adopt the new system and use it as intended, while others may resist the change and prefer the old practices. Having a great leave management system in place is quite different from having every employee use it as intended.
